Las Bambas Mine leads copper production in Peru with 15,310 metric tons in September 2025
Las Bambas Mine reaffirmed its leadership in Peru's copper industry by establishing itself as the company with the largest share of national copper production in September 2025, accounting for 15.31% of the total, according to the most recent Mining Statistical Bulletin of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM).
The report is part of the main sectoral indicators that will set the national mining agenda heading towards Expocobre 2026, one of the most relevant events of next year for the mining ecosystem. According to the BEM, national production of copper reached 240,995 TMF in September 2025, representing a 3.71% increase compared to the same month last year. This growth was driven primarily by improved results in Antamina Mining Company (+27.21 TP3T) and Quellaveco (+21.9%).
On a cumulative basis, production between January and September reached 1,993,626 MT, representing a 2.71% increase compared to the previous period. These figures point to a strong finish to the year for the sector, in a context where Expocobre 2026 It is shaping up to be the main meeting point for companies and strategic players in the country.
The national ranking kept in first place The Bambas, followed by Green Hill (15.12%) and Southern Peru (15.06%), which together account for 45.5% of all the copper produced in Peru. The performance of these companies stands out in a year marked by major corporate announcements and the anticipation generated by activities related to Expocobre 2026, which will bring together global copper mining leaders.
On a regional level, Moquegua once again emerged as the region making the largest contribution to national production, accounting for 17.71% of the total. It is followed by Apurímac (15.3%), Arequipa (15.2%) and Áncash (13.8%), key regions that account for 62.1% of Peru’s production. This regional map takes on special significance given the role Peru will play in the global copper market during a year in which Expocobre 2026 will attract the attention of international companies and markets.
With these results, the Peru reaffirms its position as one of the leading global producers of copper, a mineral essential for the energy transition and the growing demand for electric technologies. Expectations towards Expocobre 2026 it also contributes to consolidating the country as a benchmark in large-scale mining events.
