    Leveraging its leadership in the mining sector, from May 29 to June 1 of this year, Peru will host the First World Copper Conference \u2013 ExpoCobre 2023, a top-tier international mega-event that will bring together the main CEOs and mining leaders such as managers, executives, and officials linked to the sector, as well as the main TOP suppliers, who will receive more than 10,000 attendees at the Jockey Club of Peru Exhibition Center.\u00a0<\/p>

    In this first edition, ExpoCobre will feature keynote lectures, technical meetings, commercial talks, and round tables where topics such as: \u201cTechnological challenges and hurdles in copper mining,\u201d \u201cThe future of the energy transition in the world,\u201d \u201cGender equity in Latin American mining,\u201d \u201cShared value for sustainable development,\u201d \u201cThe future of copper: the paths of supply and demand,\u201d among other approaches, will be addressed, making this event one of the main platforms for reflection that will drive the mining sector and copper production in the country and the world.\u00a0<\/p>

    ExpoCobre 2023 has an area of over 10,000 m\u00b22 <\/sup>where manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and representatives of various brands will be able to finalize business and commercial relationships with executives from mining companies, thus boosting the economic reactivation of the sector. This in turn makes it the perfect showcase to enter and position oneself in the Peruvian market, which currently has a portfolio of mining projects valued at 53,715 million dollars, with investors coming from China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, and Peru itself.\u00a0<\/p>

    ExpoCobre 2023 also boasts an extraordinary advisory committee made up of Edgardo Orderique, General Manager of Minera Las Bambas; Carlos Cotera, General Manager of Minera Antapaccay; Javier del R\u00edo, Senior VP for South America and USA at Hudbay Minerals; and Francisco Lecaros, President of the Chilean Mining Foundation, who contribute their knowledge and contact networks to ensure the success of this important event.<\/p>

    Mining Leadership\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>

    This first edition of ExpoCobre will take place in the same year that Rio Tinto and First Quantum decided to sign an agreement to unlock and move forward with the La Granja mega mining project in Cajamarca (Peru), considered one of the largest undeveloped copper deposits in the world, and whose implementation will require an investment of 5 billion dollars.\u00a0<\/p>

    The event also coincides with the investment increase announced by Antamina for the extension of its useful life until 2036, a project in which it will invest 2 billion dollars once it receives approval for its environmental impact study from the authorities. Approval that Compa\u00f1\u00eda Minera Zafranal also awaits to launch its Zafranal copper project in Arequipa, whose investment amounts to 1.473 billion dollars, and which will begin the detailed engineering of the project this year.\u00a0<\/p>

    Peru is the second largest copper producer in the world, and ExpoCobre 2023 is a strategic event that will strengthen the country's position in the mining world, bringing together industry leaders and more than 2,000 executives from national and international companies, investors, officials, and representatives from regulatory bodies, academia, and suppliers of equipment, services, and technologies from all areas of mining.\u00a0<\/p>
